Editorial management

By default, editorial management is led by the Editorial Team which is composed of editors acting as equals. The editorial team is collectively responsible for all decisions made regarding the manuscripts submitted to Geodynamica

Editors are assigned to handle specific manuscripts (i.e., the ‘handling editor’ of a manuscript). All editors can volunteer to handle a submitted manuscript. The handling editor handles the review process of the manuscript.

Two editors are always on monitoring duty (rotating monthly), where they monitor new manuscript submissions and the assignment of a handling editor

Secondary editors are assigned to a manuscript in addition to the handling editor to assist with the review process.

The nominal term of an editor is three years. Since Geodynamica is a new journal, half of the editors will commit to two consecutive terms. Six months prior to the end of an editor’s term, the Editorial Team and Steering Committee will agree on the prolongation of an editor’s term and, if needed, begin the recruitment process of the replacement editor.

Editors may be added to or removed from Editorial Team by a consensus of the Editorial Team and Steering Committee, excluding the (prospective) editor in question.
