After the recruitment of the Editorial, Technical, and Media & Outreach Teams, each team will designate two representatives who will act as the Steering Committee of Geodynamica. So keep posted…
Pre-launch core team:
We are six scientists—working in the fields of Earth crustal and lithospheric dynamics, Earth’s and planetary mantle and core geophysics, and (exo-)planetary mineral physics—who have happily committed to pushing the creation of a new community-led DOAJ journal on geodynamics in all its forms called: Geodynamica, which we aim to launch in 2025.
The six of us volunteer to act as a Core committee, which will coordinate the efforts of three different teams before the launch:
- The Editorial team will be in charge of drafting and refining the ethos of the journal, its scope, the various guidelines for article submission, review, and publication before the journal’s launch.
- The Technical team, in charge of the creation of our online submission platform and the production of accepted articles. This team will be supported by University of California Press (eScholarship), which is happy to host and support the Geodynamica initiative.
- The Media & Outreach team, in charge of the creation of the visual identity of the journal and the promotion of Geodynamica within the scientific community and beyond.
We need your help and support to move forward! If you are excited or curious about this initiative, whether you simply want to show your support for this new DOAJ, or you want to actively participate and be involved in the creation and the operation of Geodynamica, you can:
- Join the conversation on Discord
- Send your ideas and suggestions via Email
- Follow us on social media, Twitter/X and LinkedIn.
Are you keen to play an even more active and formal role in the creation of Geodynamica?
- Fill in this Google form for us to know more about who you are, how involved you want to be in Geodynamica, and to indicate which team (Editorial, Technical, Media) you would be interested in joining!
Let’s start building Geodynamica together!
Yours sincerely,
Maëlis Arnould, Assistant Professor in mantle geodynamics at University Claude Bernard Lyon 1, France.
Mandy Bethkenhagen, CNRS Researcher working on high-pressure materials, LULI, Palaiseau, France.
Thibault Duretz, Professor of Geodynamic Modelling at the Goethe University, Frankfurt, Germany.
Mohamed Gouiza, Research Fellow in lithosphere dynamics at the University of Leeds, UK.
Loraine Hwang, Director at the CIG, University of California, Davis, USA.
Stefano Maffei, Research Assistant in the Institute of Geophysics at ETH Zurich, Switzerland.
Iris van Zelst, Research Fellow in planetary geodynamics and seismology in the University of Edinburgh, UK.
